Gov. Wolf believes Democrats and Republicans would vote to raise minimum wage

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - 15 years have passed since the minimum wage in Pennsylvania saw an increase.

Could we see a change in the near future?

"I think both democrats and republicans would vote for this. It hasn't been allowed to come up for a vote is the problem," Gov. Wolf said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Tuesday. "So the challenge is to try and convince some of the leaders in the general assembly to just let the members vote on this."

Wolf brings up a clinical case from the 90's when New Jersey raised minimum wage, and Pennsylvania did not. The theory was that New Jersey would lose jobs, and Pennsylvania would gain minimum wage jobs.

"Just the reverse happened - actually more people ended up working on the New Jersey side," said Wolf.
