7 Tips to Stay Consistent With Your Nutrition For Steady Weight Loss Through Summer

It’s already April. Please do not try to crash diet your way to summer bod. If you're reading a #NutritionTipTuesday post, you know better than that! Instead try out these methods for a much happier weight loss experience:

  1. Don’t try to be perfect. Probably the number 1 consistency-killer is people being too strict with their approach and giving up the first time they grab a donut from the break room.
  2. Find staples you enjoy! Whether that’s a healthy meal that you’re comfortable cooking (bonus points if it yields leftovers!), or a convenient snack like your favorite fruit, just having some go-to healthier options can make adventuring into the wide world of healthier eating a bit less overwhelming.
  3. Speaking of snacking, cut up your favorite veggies and put them in tupperware ahead of time. There’s no way you’re getting out the knife and cutting board when you’re already in snack-mode, but you may just go for some delicious, ready-to-eat bell peppers!
  4. Set daily minimums of the good stuff for yourself. This is better than trying to restrict/limit unhealthy foods. For example I try to get 3 servings of veggies, 3 (big) servings of protein, and 3 crystal-clear pees. That’s enough protein, veggies, and water that I don’t have a ton of room leftover for junk.
  5. If you’re hungry, drink a big glass/bottle of water and wait 10 minutes. If you’re still hungry, eat. There will probably be a few times you aren’t actually hungry and those calories you save will add up!
  6. Eat what you want, regardless of how “healthy” or “unhealthy” it is. Just eat less of it! You’ll probably find about 80% of what you're used to eating is plenty to feel satisfied.
  7. Eat what you want, regardless of how “healthy” or “unhealthy” it is. Just eat it SLOWLY! It will help you digest carbs up to 20% better, and help you eat less! Not to mention you’ll taste and enjoy your food more.

These are not the fastest way to drop pounds. They are sound habits and strategies to help you year-round. I'm more concerned with your long-term success and sanity, than how fast the scale moves. If you are too, try these out. They will help you feel better, enjoy your food more, and yes, lose weight.
