Following a public meeting on Tuesday, the Kansas State Fairgrounds' plans to demolish the dirt racetrack have been put on hold.
Following the board's announcement that the track would close at the end of 2023, fans of the track have worked together for months in an attempt to save it.
Fans and racers petitioned the board on Tuesday to maintain the track.
Meeting of the Kansas State Fair Board was attended by more than 200 persons.
They shared their memories of visiting the decades-old track.
After the meeting, which lasted for an hour, the State Fair Board did not reach a resolution. Rather, they agreed to hold off on making a decision about the track's future until Tuesday, Nov. 21.
