It's one of those coincidences that you don't expect. While some Carrollton firefighters were out on a call Sunday their own fire house almost caught fire.
The crew from Carrollton Fire House #4 on East Rosemeade Parkway was sent out to tend to a medical emergency - and while they were gone, a 911 call came in saying there was a fire behind the firehouse.
Officials say the fire was in an electric transformer which also caught a nearby tree on fire.
Fortunately, the firefighters' building was not damaged. However, the fire did cause the fire house's emergency Outdoor Warning siren to go off for about 40 seconds. It was also damaged in the fire so now it's out of service.
And to make things even messier, the transformer that caught fire cut electricity over much of the nearby neighborhood for several hours.
