DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A class of 31 correctional officers who will work at the Dallas County Jail graduated Friday at the Sheriff's Department training facility. The facility in South Dallas opened earlier this year.

"You are expected to treat inmates, including their family members, legal counsel and others, with fairness, respect and dignity while you display courage in the performance of your duties," Senior Sgt Kenneth Edwards told the class.
The group received diplomas after a four week course.
"This is the future starting today," says Detention Training Officer Lisa Taylor. "They will go back into the jail and create a whole new atmosphere."
Edwards says the class had a 100% pass rate, and this class is graduating as public agencies across Texas deal with a spike in COVID numbers.
"Crime doesn't stop. Incarcerations don't stop," he says. "We continue to do our job like we're supposed to."
