Horned Frog vs Bulldog: Who would (realistically) win in a fight?

With the TCU Horned Frogs on their way to the national championship … the question must be asked: What exactly is a horned frog? And how would it hold up in a fight?

Maybe you already know what a horned frog is, but it can still be confusing, especially for Texas transplants. First of all, a horned frog isn't a frog at all, it's a lizard!

And with a plethora of big, intimidating beasts to choose from, why would a university decide on such a tiny representative? Interesting story. Legend has it, an army of horned frogs swarmed the TCU football field during the team's very first football game back in 1896. That's when the university decided to make the fierce little creature its mascot.

"Fierce" is not an exaggeration, either. Not only can the horned frog impale predators with its horns, it can also squirt foul-tasting blood from its eyes. And it's good at aiming, so that nasty liquid is usually going directly into the mouth of whatever is trying to do the lizard harm. This particular skill comes in handy when fighting, you guessed it, dogs.

KRLD's Baylee Friday talks with TCU Professor Dean Williams on horned frogs and who would realistically win in a fight, a bulldog or a horned frog.
