Texas A&M’s cherished mascot, Reveille X - the “First Lady of Aggieland” - underwent surgery Wednesday to remove her right eye following a glaucoma diagnosis, university President Gen. Mark Welsh III announced.

Veterinary specialists at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital discovered abnormal tissue during the procedure and removed the eye out of caution; the tissue is now undergoing further analysis.

Reveille X, a sable-and-white Rough Collie born in September 2019 and serving since April 2021, is resting comfortably after being discharged.

Officials say she’s expected to resume her campus duties - riding on “Rev Force One,” attending classes, cheering at games, and patrolling for squirrels - when the fall semester kicks off.
