After losing the first two games of their four game series against the Cardinals, the Padres bounced back from a one-hit effort on Friday to beat the Cardinals 4-2 on Saturday. Randy Vasquez allowed just one run in five innings, while the offense rallied for three runs in the 5th inning. After falling behind 1-0 on Nathan Church's 4th inning RBI-double, Ty France hit a solo homer in the 5th to tie the game at 1 apiece. After Sung-Mun Song walked and Freddy Fermin singled, Fernando Tatis Jr. dropped a bloop single down the right field line with two outs to bring home both runners and give San Diego a 3-1 lead. Ivan Herrera cut the Padres' 2-run lead in half with an RBI-double in the 8th, but Manny Machado immediately responded with a solo homer in the bottom of the frame to give the Padres a 2-run cushion. Mason Miller worked a 4-out save, striking out 4 hitters while walking a pair to slam the door shut with 29 pitches. Walker Buehler will try to lead the Padres to a series split on Sunday.
