CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A local animal rescue extends its arms to help some furry four-legged friends from all the way down South.
The Atlanta Humane Society recently rescued 165 German shepherds from a property in rural Georgia from conditions which officials call deplorable.
"These are dogs that were living in severe neglect. They had no access to food and water, they were living in muddy fields. These dogs have never known homes, they've never known people, they've never known family," said Linda Torelli with the Brandywine Valley SPCA.

January 7, 2019 Torelli says after getting a call for help from the folks in Atlanta, they decided to bring 16 of those dogs to their facility in Chester County.
"These dogs are going to need a lot of help, but I'm also going to tell you they're very sweet. These dogs have been through a lot, and we're going to need to help them a lot with socialization," she said.

January 7, 2019 Over the next few months, Linda and her crew will work with the dogs to get them mentally and physically healthy.
"Our ultimate goal is to get these dogs into a forever home, so they can find out what's it's like to be loved," she said.
Linda says in the interim, they are looking for foster homes and donations to help properly care for the dogs.
