PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say they think they know who was behind the wheel in a Dec. 29 hit-and-run in North Philadelphia that left a 25-year-old woman in critical condition. Police say they have located the car they believe was involved in the crash, but they have not released the name of the suspected driver.

The victim, Hayley Worell is hospitalized with several severe injuries, including a fractured skull and fractured hips.

Her mother, Colleen, has been by her bedside and was waiting for the doctor when she agreed to speak with KYW Newsradio. When asked about her reaction to the news that police had identified the car and the driver, she said she was “numb.”

Last week Friday, at 9:35 p.m., a dark-gray Nissan traveling north on Broad Street struck her daughter while she was walking west across Broad at Susquehanna Avenue, according to police. The driver did not stop to help her or speak to responding officers.

Police released video of the suspect inspecting his car after the hit-and-run. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.
