It’s a big day for Britney Spears and those who have supported the #FreeBritney Movement. The Pop star is scheduled to appear in court later today where Judge Brenda Penny will decide whether or not to end Spears’ 13-year conservatorship.

Spears was placed under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, after her highly publicized mental health struggles in 2008. As her conservator, Jamie handled all aspects of the Pop star’s finances, business affairs and personal life. While the original intent of the conservatorship was to protect Spears, concern started to grow when Spears’ reality under the conservatorship of her father began to surface.
During an earlier court date in September, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ordered the removal of Jamie Spears as Spears’ conservator. Today, the same judge will respond to Spears’ petition to dissolve the 13-year legal arrangement entirely.
Spears appears to be in high-spirits for today’s decision, as she can be seen dancing around while sporting a “#FreeBritney T-shirt alongside her fiancé Sam Ashghari in a social media post.
Today’s court ruling will specifically address control over the “person” branch of Spears’ conservatorship including control over her daily activities, social life and medical treatment. The conservatorship of her $60 million estate is expected to be addressed at a later date with a court date set for December 8 to discuss unresolved financial matters.
“I haven’t prayed for something more in my life,” Britney shares in a since-deleted social post, indirectly referring to the end of her conservatorship. Fans are right alongside supporting Spears and are expected to appear outside the courthouse in large numbers.
