Luis Campusano had perhaps the best game of his career on Friday night, as the Padres earned a crucial win over the Yankees and gained a game in the wild card standings since the Diamondbacks also lost. The Padres and Yankees had a pitcher's duel going, with the game tied at 1-1 after 9 innings. Xander Bogaerts delivered an RBI-single in the 2nd inning while Ben Rice hit a solo homer in the 3rd, which served as the game's only runs through 9 innings. As mentioned, Campusano was terrific, throwing out three would-be base stealers, including Spencer Jones at third base in the top of the 10th inning after the Yankees took a 2-1 lead on Jones' RBI-single. In the bottom of the 10th, Campusano blasted a no-doubt 2-run walk-off homer to give the Padres a much-needed win after their 1-5 road trip. Robbie Ray will square off against Carlos Rodon on Saturday.
