GAFFNEY, S.C. — In a moment that stunned alumni, students, and the broader Cherokee County community, Limestone University announced Wednesday that it would be forced to close its doors at the end of the spring semester—unless a $6 million lifeline appears before Tuesday.

The decision is set to be finalized early next week, with the University’s Board of Trustees expected to vote on whether the historic institution, founded in 1845, can continue operations. But not everyone is ready to accept the end.

“It ain’t Tuesday yet,” an elderly man said outside a small rural church on the outskirts of Gaffney. He didn’t give his name, but locals know him as a longtime figure tied to one of the county’s major employers. Speaking to a friend on this Easter Sunday, his words carried more than just faith—they carried hope, and maybe even a hint at something bigger brewing behind the scenes.

The phrase has quickly caught fire throughout the Limestone community, becoming a rallying cry among students, faculty, and alumni. Because while the clock is ticking, Tuesday isn’t here yet—and miracles don’t follow schedules.
