It's been widely reported President Donald Trump plans on awarding Bill Belichick the Presidential Medal of Freedom Thursday, but now the question is will the Patriots coach accept?
According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the offer was extended before last Wednesday's events. In addition, Belichick "very much wants to accept it" and he "believes it's a great honor."
It still remains unclear if he will accept.
"I'd be more concerned about just the viewpoint with players in the league," Chris Simms said appearing with Florio. "Listen, no player is going to like that at all. They are going to look at Bill Belichick in a whole different light if he's involved in that. And that is what I would be concerned about if I was Bill."
The Patriots have not responded to a request for comment.
