Now that it’s official that Brian Snitker won’t be back as the Atlanta Braves’ Manager the Braves are now in search for a new skipper. The Los Angeles Angels announced yesterday that Braves’ former third base coach Ron Washington will not return as their Manager next season, so earlier today The Morning Shift discussed if Atlanta should consider bringing back Washington as their new manager.
“If he feels like he’s got at least, and I don’t know if he does, but if he feels like he’s got five years left and Brian Snitker doesn’t come back I’d kick the tires on him being manager. Now, again that depends on if the Braves’ timeline and Ron Washington’s timeline align and I’m not sure they will, but if they did I would bring him back.” Dylan Mathews said
Mike Johnson and Ali Mac both were on the side of they don’t see Ron Washington coming back to be manager happening, but they did say they could see him coming back to the coaching staff in a smaller role.
The Braves’ search for their next manager will surely be thorough and extensive, and if nothing else they should at least consider and maybe have a conversation with their former third base coach if he’s interested in the job.
