(670 The Score) Bulls forward Thad Young will miss the team’s preseason opener against the Rockets on Friday night due to a lower left leg infection.
Young had been bothered by the issue recently but went through shootaround in the morning. Afterward, he visited the doctors, who suggested he sit out. It's unclear how long Young will be out.
“He was dealing with a little bit of a lower leg infection that really was not too terrible, to be honest with you,” coach Billy Donovan said. “And then today in shootaround, he kind of came in and it was bothering him, but he said he was fine and then he went through shootaround … They wanted to take him to the doctor, took him to the doctor and they advised with the lower leg infection that he sit out tonight and not play. I think they’re testing him just to see what can be done to get him back. I don’t know how long he’ll be out, but we’ll probably have more information tomorrow after some of these tests get returned.”
Young, 32, averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 24.9 minutes across 64 games, including 16 starts, last season. He’s projected to be the Bulls’ first big man off the bench.
