(SportsRadio 610) -- A Texans' AFC South rival is reportedly interviewing Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
The Chiefs' OC is considered a potential candidate for the Texans' head coaching vacancy, but it appears he will interview first with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who recently fired Doug Marrone after four seasons.
Josina Anderson, formerly of ESPN, reported Tuesday "the Jaguars are currently in the process of scheduling a head coach interview" with Bieniemy, who has already interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions.
Texans quarterback has spoken highly of Bieniemy, and so has safety Justin Reid.
Bieniemy played nine seasons as an NFL running back and coached that same position group at his alma mater Colorado (2001-2002), UCLA (2003-2005), the Minnesota Vikings (2010, also assistant head coach), and Kansas City Chiefs (2013-2017). He returned to Colorado as the offensive coordinator there from 2011-2012.
Since 2018, Bieniemy has been the Chiefs' offensive coordinator with head coach Andy Reid.
The Texans have already interviewed former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, former Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell. They have reportedly requested interviews with Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
