"Dynasty" SC wins 2nd National Title in three years, 3rd under Staley

South Carolina Women's Basketball program is once again the queens of the court after downing Iowa 87-75, Sunday to win their 3rd National Championship since 2017.

After trailing 10-0 early, South Carolina cut the Iowa lead to 27-20 after the 1st quarter. They then used a 29-19 2nd quarter to lead 49-46 at the half. SC led 68-59 going into the fourth, they held Iowa to just 29 2nd half points.

National Player Of The Year Caitlin Clark led Iowa with 30 points. She had 17 in the 1st quarter, but was limited to just 13 points the rest of the game. South Carolina had 4 players on double figures. Tessa Johnson led the way with a team high 19 off the bench. Kamilla Cardoso and Chloe Kitts both had double-doubles.

It's South Carolina's 3rd National Title under Dawn Staley, who becomes just the 5th coach to win 3 or more national titles. South Carolina becomes the 5th program in history to go unbeaten and win the National Title. Their 38 wins is a single season program record.
