A fast start propelled Clemson in their win over Florida State at Death Valley, Saturday. The Tigers scored 18 1st half points on their way to a 24-10 victory. Clemson struck 1st scoring on the game's opening drive.
The 13 play, 75 yard drive was capped off by a 4 yard Cade Klubnik TD run. Clemson got the 2 point try to go up 8-0. FSU turned it over on their attempt to respond later in the 1st quarter. Seminole QB Tommy Castellanos fumbled inside the Clemson red zone. The Tigers led 8-0 after the 1st.
The Tiger defense then forced a turnover on downs. Clemson capitalized scoring on a 34 yard TD pass from Klubnik to Antonio Williams. The Tigers added the extra point to lead 15-0. They would get a FG after a 13 play, 73 yard drive to extend the lead to 18-0.
FSU got on the board with a TD pass from Castellanos late in the 1st half to make it 18-7 at the break. In the 3rd quarter, FSU would miss on a 40 yard FG try and Clemson would add another Nolan Hauser FG to lead 21-7 going into the 4th.
The two teams traded field goals to make it 24-10, Clemson. The Tiger defense would shut the door forcing a turnover on downs and an interception late.
Clemson was plus two in the turnover margin. With the win, the Tigers are now 4-5 on the season and 3-4 in ACC play. They are back in action at Louisville, Friday night. That game is set for 7:30 PM kickoff on ESPN.
