Furman hands Samford it's 1st SoCon loss

In a game heard on The Fan Upstate Wednesday night, Furman Men's Basketball got a pivotal win in Southern Conference action. The Paladins were able to hold off Samford 91-84 in overtime. Furman outscored the Bulldogs 15-8 in the extra frame.

It was the 2nd straight game Furman has scored over 90 points, after they put up 96 in a win over Wofford last weekend. Five Paladin players were in double figures. Jalen Slawson had game highs for points and rebounds with 26 and 11. Mike Bothwell added 17. JP Pegues , Marcus Foster and Alex Williams were all also in double digits.

The Paladins had a 17-6 advantage on the offensive glass and turned the ball over just 7 times. That helped them win despite shooting just 8 of 34 from three point range.

Furman handed Samford their 1st loss in SoCon play. The Paladins are now 16-6 overall and 7-2in the SoCon. They travel to take on UNC-Greensboro on Sunday for a 3 PM tip off. You can hear every Furman game, all season long on The Fan Upstate.
