The formula of a productive run game and solid defense has become a tried and true for Furman Football this season, as they won their 4th straight game over the weekend.

Furman went on the road and downed Samford 27-21 on Saturday. The Paladins led 17-7 at the half after trailing 7-0 early. Furman then extended the lead 24-14 after three quarters.

The Paladins missed a field goal in the 4th and Samford scored on a Chandler Smith TD run early in the 4th to make it 24-21. Furman then got a field goal with 8 minutes left to lead 27-21.

The Furman defense forced a Samford punt with just over 5 minutes left and then forced a turnover on downs with less than a minute left to preserve the win.

The Paladins ran for 200 yards and held Samford to under 50 yards rushing. Furman is now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They travel to Western Carolina Saturday for a battle of two teams that are unbeaten in the SoCon. That game is set for a 2:30 kickoff, the Paladins play all season long on The Fan Upstate.
