
In a contest that featured plenty of offense, South Carolina's defense made plays late to give them a home win over Mississippi State. There was 950 total yards and more than 60 points scored total in South Carolina's 37-30 win over the Bulldogs in Columbia.
The game was tied at 27 going into the 4th quarter. SC got a 35 yard field goal by Mitch Jeter in the 4th to lead 30-27. The Gamecock defense then forced a fumble at the Bulldog 22 yard line, which set up a South Carolina TD drive that game them a 37-27 lead.
SC's defense also forced a turnover on downs in the 4th. Mississippi State got a FG late in the 4th to make it 37-30. South Carolina recovered the onside kick try and was able to salt away the clock.
South Carolina is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in SEC play. They travel to Rocky Top to take on Tennessee, Saturday night.
