
The South Carolina Gamecocks dominated on both sides of the ball in a blowout win over Akron, Saturday night. The Gamecocks allowed just 9 1st downs, 154 total yards, with just 37 rushing yards in their 50-7 win over Akron.
South Carolina rolled up nearly 550 total yards of offense. They struck 1st scoring a TD after an 89 yard drive to lead 7-0. Greenville native and Gamecock Freshman WR Mazeo Bennett had a TD catch late in the 1st quarter . The Gamecocks got the 2 point conversion and extended their lead 15-0 after the 1st.
QB Robby Ashford started in place of the injured LaNorris Sellers. Ashford had another TD pass in the 1st half and had a 22-0 lead. Akron scored late in the 1st half to make it 22-7 at the break.
After the break, South Carolina scored on RB Oscar Adaway's 2nd TD run of the game to take a 29-7 after three quarters. The Gamecocks poured on three more 4th quarter touchdowns to make the final score 50-7.
The Gamecocks are now 3-1 on the season, they have a bye this coming week. South Carolina will host 5th ranked Ole Miss on October 5th.
