Gamecocks fall short in upset bid at Alabama

The South Carolina Gamecocks fell just short in their upset bid at Alabama, Saturday. The Gamecocks were clipped 27-25 in Tuscaloosa. Alabama scored early and lead 7-0 after the 1st quarter.

The Tide then scored a Touchdown with 4:38 left in the last half to take a 14-0 lead in the 1nd quarter. South Carolina then scored 12 points getting a touchdown, safety and field goal all in the final two minutes of the half. South Carolina trailed 14-12 at the break.

South Carolina scored on a Raheim Sanders TD run to take a 19-14 lead after three quarters. Alabama retook the lead 20-19 on a TD run by QB Jalen Millroe early in the 4th. The Gamecocks then missed on a 51 yard FG try. Alabama scored another TD and got the extra point to lead 27-19.

The Gamecocks then scored on a LaNorris Sellers TD pass to Nyck Harbor with 43 seconds left but missed on the two point try and trailed 27-25. South Carolina recovered an onside kick and had one last chance. Their hopes were dashed when Sellers threw an interception to end the game.

South Carolina is now 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Gamecocks are on the road this Saturday taking on new SEC foe Oklahoma.
