The possibility of a winning season may be slipping away from South Carolina Football after a hard fought loss over the weekend. The Gamecocks fell 41-39 to the Florida Gators, Saturday in Columbia.

The game was a back and forth affair, as South Carolina led 14-10 after the 1st quarter but trailed 24-21 at the half. The two teams traded field goals in the 3rd and Florida led 27-24 going into the 4th.

South Carolina scored on two TD drives early in the 4th to lead 37-27 with 9 minutes left, but could not hold the lead. Florida scored two TD's in the final 5 minutes, getting the go ahead score with 47 seconds left to lead 41-37.

Gamecock QB Spencer Rattler was picked off on their final drive with 20 seconds left. Florida took a safety with 4 seconds left rather than punt from deep in their own territory to make the final, 41-39.

The Gamecocks are now 2-4, they'll have to win 5 of their last 6 games to have a winning regular season. A 4-2 record down the stretch would give them a .500 finish.
