As expected, Georgia moved into the top spot after Alabama's loss late Saturday night. The Bulldogs are #1 nationally for the 1st time since the 2008 preseason. They also are the Unanimous #1 in the AP Poll for the 1st time since the Vince Dooley era, 1982 to be exact.
Georgia was able to go into a hostile environment Saturday and take care of business. Auburn's start was as good as they could've scripted, a 17 play drive that took nearly 7 minutes. However, Auburn failed to find pay dirt and settled for a 24 yard FG to lead 3-0. Georgia then went to work scoring 17 straight to close the 1st half up 17-3.
The Georgia defense has been so dominant, that anytime they get up two scores the game is all but over. Georgia extended the lead with QB Stetson Bennett's 2nd TD pass of the game. That opened the second half scoring and put Georgia up 24-3.
Auburn then found the end zone for the first and only time of the afternoon. RB Tank Bigsby scored from 6 yards out to cut the lead to 24-10. It was the first TD the Georgia "D" has surrendered prior to the 4th quarter all season. The Bulldogs would tack on a FG and a TD run from Zamir White in the 4th, to finish Auburn off 34-10.
Georgia held the Auburn run game to just 46 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs would put up 432 total yards, 231 through the air and 201 on the ground. Georgia RB Zamir White went for 79 yards and 2 TD's on 18 carries. Freshman WR Ladd McConkey had 5 catches for 135 yards and a TD.
Georgia now moves to 6-0, they host #11 Kentucky this weekend. That game is set for a 3:30 kickoff Saturday in Athens.
