The Atlanta Hawks season opener went about as good as anyone could have hoped for as they grabbed a 20-point win over the Bulls.

Trae Young predictably led the Hawks in scoring with 37 points, but saw six other players score in double figures (Collins, Reddish, Hunter, Gallinari, Huerter, and Bogdanovic).


In a game that didn't even see Clint Capela, Rajon Rondo, and a few other new additions, the Hawks looked as strong as they've been in quite a while.

While you don't want to go overboard with the performance considering it was the Chicago Bulls, there are some statistical reasons to be excited.

There was a lot of excitement in Atlanta after the offseason that GM Travis Sclenk had about the possibilities of this roster and against Chicago it was apparent that this team is a little bit different than in years past.

The Hawks are going to have a season of ups and downs, especially early on, but the season-opening win was a screenshot of what can happen when things go well for this offense.

The expectations for this team is to be a playoff team and Wednesday's win showed that they may be able to do more than just reach the playoffs.
