In-state College Football Coaching Legend Announces Retirement

A college football coaching legend in the Palmetto State is set to retire and ride off into the sunset, once this season is over. Coach Buddy Pough has announced that this season at South Carolina State will be his last. The announcement came Thursday morning.

Pough has been the head coach at his alma mater since 2002. He has been coaching since 1976 when he was 1st hired as an assistant at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. Pough also spent time as an assistant at South Carolina State and as the Head Coach at Keenan and Fairfield Central high schools. He also worked for Hall Of Fame Coach Lou Holtz at the University Of South Carolina.

Pough is the all time wins leader at SC State with a record of 146-87. He has led Bulldog Football to 8 conference titles and four FCS playoff appearances during his tenure.
