A late offensive flurry fueled Furman to a one point win in their SoCon opener on Saturday. The Paladins had managed just three points until the 6 minute mark of the 4th quarter. They trailed in-state and SoCon rival Citadel 16-3 late in the 4th.

The Paladin QB Trey Hedden found Ben Ferguson for a TD pass with 5:40 left in the game to make it 16-10. Hedden then found Jackson Pryor on a TD pass with 1:01 left and the Paladins got the point after to lead 17-16. Furman then got a stop to seal the 17-16 victory.

Hedden was the story going 23 of 33 passing for 246 yards and 2 TD's. Furman's run game struggled gaining less than 40 yards on the ground.

With the win, Furman moves to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. They continue their SoCon title defense hosting Chattanooga this Saturday for a 2PM kickoff. You can hear all the action on The Fan Upstate.
