The Atlanta Braves made a roster move Tuesday morning, placing LHP Max Fried on the 15-day IL with a strained left forearm, backdated to May 6. In a corresponding roster move, the team called up LHP Danny Young from Gwinnett.

Over the weekend, Brian Snitker would not commit to Fried making his scheduled start on Wednesday.

"They're working through things," with Max, Snitker said. In his last start against the Orioles, Fried gave up eight hits and five earned runs in 6 innings in a 9-4 loss.

This is Fried's second stint on the IL in 2023. After an Opening Day start, Fried missed the next two weeks with a strained left hamstring. In 16 2/3 innings after that return before Friday's start versus the Orioles, Max had given up no earned runs, striking out 16.
