Payne: Cal McNair should consider if Deshaun Watson wants Jack Easterby out

(SportsRadio 610) -- You don't have to be a genius to put all of this together.

It's being reported that Deshaun Watson is upset with the organization for not considering his opinion in the general manager search, and the belief they will not consider his preferred candidates for head coach.

But as discussed Thursday morning on Payne & Pendergast, there could be more to this than Watson not getting the coach he wants.

Consider that perhaps it's just as much about wanting executive vice president of football operations Jack Easterby out of the organization.

There is a chance Watson is so fed up with the way Easterby has conducted himself, that it's led him to considering a trade request.

Trading Watson is a non-starter. Try not to even think about it.

What's most concerning is the discord at the top.

And there's this from Watson:

The culture right now is set by whatever McNair allows. And since firing Bill O'Brien after Week 4, McNair has allowed Easterby to assume the interim general manager position, despite his role in the moves which led to O'Brien's undoing.

And despite reports of players not wanting Easterby around, meddling in every day football affairs, he's still there.
