Michigan downs #2 Washington to win 1st National Title since 1997

The Michigan Wolverines are the National Champions of College Football for the 1st time in over 25 years. #1 Michigan scored twice in the final 7-plus minutes of the game, to pull away and down #2 Washington 34-13 in Monday's National Title Game in Houston.

The Wolverine run game was dominant racking up over 300 yards on 38 carries for an average of more than 8 yards per attempt. Washington had just 46 yards in the run game on 20 carries.

The Wolverines had two running backs with over 100 yards rushing. Blake Corum had 134 yards on 21 carries and two TD's. Donovan Edwards had 104 on just 6 carries, with two TD runs of over 40 yards each. Michigan gained nearly 450 total yards and was plus two in turnover margin.

Michigan finishes the season with a perfect 15-0 record. It's the program's 1st national title since 1997 and 15 is the most single season wins in program history.
