A South Carolina Basketball standout made history in Wednesday night's NBA draft. Gamecock Forward and Midlands native Collin Murray-Boyles was selected 9th overall by the Toronto Raptors.
Murray-Boyles is the highest Gamecock selected in the lottery era and thus the 1st lotto pick to come from the program. He becomes the 1st SC player to be taken in the 1st round since Renaldo Balkman in 2006.
Murray-Boyles starred at A.C. Flora High School in the Midlands. He then went to a prep school in Utah before coming back home to star for the Gamecocks.
He's the 2nd NBA draft choice under Coach Lamont Paris after another Midlands native, GG Jackson was picked in the 2nd round in 2023. Murray-Boyles was named 2nd Team All-SEC as a Sophomore this past season.
Murray-Boyles was joined by his girlfriend and South Carolina Women's star Chloe Kitts at the NBA draft.
