The Upstate will be well represented as two minor league baseball teams from the area will be in the same league. The Hub City Spartanburgers have announced that they will compete in the South Atlantic League starting next season.
The Spartanburgers will have built in regional division rivals in the Greenville Drive and the Asheville Tourists. The Spartanburg club will play in the brand new Fifth Third Park which is the centerpiece of a larger redevelopment plan in downtown Spartanburg.
"Sparkle City" will serve as the Single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
