HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Deshaun Watson is on vacation, but his displeasure with not being included on the Texans' general manager hire has been made clear.

Texans CEO Cal McNair acknowledged as much during his opening statement to the media Friday, when he introduced GM Nick Caserio.

"I've come to understand that it's been reported that the Deshaun (Watson) feels left out of the process, but he and I had several visits and I understood his point of view before meeting with candidates," McNair said from a prepared statement. "I've reached out to Deshaun about Nick's hire and I look forward to him getting back to me when he returns from his vacation."

Caserio told reporters Watson "is our quarterback" but did not answer directly whether he would consider trading him

Later in the day, Caserio spoke exclusively to morning show hosts Payne & Pendergast. He was asked about how he plans to gain Watson's trust.

"I think you have to be transparent and be honest and have open dialogue," Caserio said. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to hopefully spend some time with Deshaun. This is not going to be about one individual ... Once we get to the head coach hire, he's going to be an integral part of the process. I think we'll take it one day at a time. This season is fairly fresh on our minds and obviously there's a lot of transition that's taken place. But sometimes, that's good for everybody. Again, my responsibility and my role is to try to earn the trust of the people around me and just to invest in people. Just try to be honest and have good communication with a lot of different people."
