According to multiple media reports, the Padres have agreed to trade a package of prospects, including OF Hudson Head and Omar Cruz, to the Pirates in exchange for SP Joe Musgrove. The San Diego native Musgrove had a career best 3.86 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP in 8 starts for the Pirates in 2020. Musgrove is under contract for 1 season at $4.45 million after avoiding arbitration.
According to MLB Pipeline, Hudson Head was the Padres' 7th ranked prospect, while Omar Cruz was not ranked among the team's top 30 prospects.
