Panthers allow late FG to drop second straight game to open season

The Carolina Panthers allowed a late field goal Sunday, as they dropped their second straight close game to open the season. The Panthers fell 19-16 on the road to the New York Giants. The Panthers were minus two in the turnover margin and struggled on 3rd down converting just 2 of 12 attempts on the day.

Panther RB Christian McCaffrey was a bright spot running for 102 yards on 15 carries. WR D.J. Moore had three catches, one of them went for the Panthers lone TD on the day. The game was back and forth and tied at 6 going into the halftime break. The two teams traded touchdowns in the 3rd quarter.

The Giants got two field goals in the 4th, one was a 56 yarder from Graham Gano with 3:34 left in the game to take a 19-16 lead. They would then hold the Panthers to a 3 and out on their final possession.
