The 1st round of the NFL draft is in the books, the Carolina Panthers had the #1 overall pick for just the 2nd time in franchise history and a pair of in-state college players were selected back-to-back late in the opening round.

The Panthers selected Alabama QB Bryce Young #1 overall. It was the 2nd time the Panthers have had the #1 and the 1st time since 2011 when they selected Auburn QB Cam Newton with the top choice. Young was highly decorated at Alabama winning the Heisman and multiple national awards in his Sophomore season.

Clemson D-Linemen Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee were taken back-to-back late in the 1st round. Murphy went 28th overall to Cincinatti and Bresee went 29th to the New Orleans Saints. It's the 1st time in Clemson Football's history that they have had back- to back 1st round picks.

The draft continues Friday night at 7 PM with 2nd and round selections. The Panthers have a 2nd round pick at 39th overall.
