The 2020-21 NHL season is fast approaching while there is still a fast spread of a worldwide pandemic.

Just four days out from their season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins have canceled Saturday’s scrimmage due to a possible COVID-19 exposure.

In a statement from the team, they said the move was made out of “an abundance of caution.”

The Penguins cancel their Saturday practice just a day after the NHL forced the delayed start to the Dallas Stars’ season when six players and two staff members tested positive.

The Columbus Blue Jackets also had a group of players miss a practice Friday in accordance to the league’s COVID-19 protocols.
