
The National Title Game is now set between two of the top four seeds in the tournament, each with over 30 wins this season. In the 1st Semifinal game Saturday night, Purdue ended NC State's Cinderella run. Purdue clamped down defensively allowing just 21 2nd half points to win 63-50.
The Boilermakers held NC State to just 5 of 19 shooting from three point range. Big man Zach Edey led the way for Purdue with a double-double of 20 points and 12 boards .Purdue is in the National Finals for the 1st time since 1969.
In the nightcap, Uconn held off a challenge from Alabama to pull away late. The Huskies outscored Alabama 26-16 in the final 11 minutes of the game. Uconn's scoring balance was on display, they had five players in double figures.
The Freshman from Georgia, Stephon Castle led the way with a team high 21. Mark Sears had a game high 24 for Alabama. Uconn had just four turnovers on the night.
Uconn and Purdue meet Monday night for the National Title, tipoff is set for 9:20 PM Eastern. The Huskies are looking for their 6th National Title since 1999. With a win, they'll become the 1st program to win back-to-back National Championships since Florida in 2006 and 2007.
