DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers are sending closer Rafael Montero to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for two prospects, the club announced Tuesday.
Texas will receive right-handed pitcher Jose Corniell and a player to be named later in the deal.
Montero posted a 4.08 ERA in 17.2 innings of work and went 8-for-8 in his save opportunities for the Rangers in 2020.
Corniell, 17, is the Mariners' 24th-best prospect.
According to a scouting report on MLB.com, Corniell "will have three usable pitches at his disposal if it all clicks, and he already has more of a feel for pitching than many arms his age."
