It appears as though the Red Sox are at least exploring whether or not there is a legitimate market for Andrew Benintendi.
According to MLB Network Radio's Jim Bowden, the Red Sox outfielder has been a subject of recent trade talks.
Benintendi is coming off a horrific 2020 season that was cut short due to a rib injury. The 26-year-old went just 4-for-39 with 17 strikeouts in 14 games.
The former first-round pick is scheduled to make $6.6 million in 2021, after which he will have one year of arbitration-eligibility.
At the moment the only certainties in the Red Sox outfield are Alex Verdugo, Hunter Renfroe and Benintendi, with J.D. Martinez and Michael Chavis serving as fill-ins.
