The Celtics were already shorthanded for the next week or so, and now things just got a lot worse.

According to Shams Charania, Jayson Tatum is expected to miss the next 10-14 days while quarantining due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The report doesn't specify whether Tatum tested positive for COVID or if he was a close contact of someone who did. (UPDATE: Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports that Tatum tested positive for COVID-19 and that the Celtics' facility has been shut down.)

The Celtics are already without big men Robert Williams, Tristan Thompson and Grant Williams for the next week after Robert Williams reportedly tested positive, with the other two considered close contacts. It's currently unclear if Tatum's situation is related to that.

Tatum has averaged 26.9 points per game for the 7-3 Celtics and along with Jaylen Brown has been one of the two clear stars carrying the team.
