Saints coach Sean Payton is redefining the Gatorade shower.
Payton was doused with Nickelodeon's iconic green slime after his team won its playoff matchup with the Chicago Bears, delivering on a vow he issued in the days leading up to the game.
The dousing came after the children's network picked up the game in hopes of connecting the sport to younger audiences. The broadcast featured kid-friendly graphics and other bells and whistles intend to engage the next generation of football fans.
Still wearing the same gear he wore on the sidelines at the Superdome -- including a facemask and what appeared to be a pair of pricey throwback Jordan sneakers -- Payton sat in front of a blue Nickelodeon banner while receiving his sliming.
Payton last week had promised to be slimed, a gag which has been a fixture on the iconic cable network's portfolio of programming throughout the decades.
The 57-year-old coach said he would “get slimed, whatever that means," if the Saints were victorious.
On Sunday, while celebrating his team's win, Payton found out.
