
The state's top two perennial college baseball programs faced off this week. South Carolina and Clemson split the 1st two games. The Tigers took the series opener at Doug Kingsmore on Friday. South Carolina responded winning a slugfest 11-9 at Fluor Field in Greenville Saturday.

South Carolina took the finale and the series over Clemson with a 7-1 win in Columbia on Sunday. Gamecock Pitcher James Hicks threw 5 innings of relief and struck out six along the way.
The Gamecocks hit three home runs in Sunday's win, two of them came from Gavin Casas. Talmadge Lecroy had two hits in the finale win, he also drove in two runs and belted his 1st career homer.
The game was close in the early going, South Carolina carried a 2-1 lead into the 4th. They would put up a 3 spot in the 4th to take control of the game 5-1. The Gamecocks added one run in both the 5th and 8th innings and would shut Clemson down.
The game was sell out at Founder Park of 8,200 people. The series had a total attendance of over 20,000. Clemson falls to 5-6 on the season, South Carolina moves to 11-1 after taking two of three in the Palmetto Series.
