South Carolina Women cruise past LSU in unbeaten showdown

South Carolina Women's Basketball cruised past LSU 88-64 in Columbia on Sunday. A sell out crowd was on hand at Colonial Life Arena to see the showdown of two previously unbeaten teams. However, there was really no suspense or drama, as South Carolina established control early on and kept it throughout.

South Carolina came out of the gate strong opening the game on a 18-2 run. They scored 24 1st quarter points and held LSU to 15. The 2nd quarter was much more contested as SC had an 18-17 advantage in that frame. They took a 42-32 lead into the half.

The Gamecock Women then would put the game on ice outscoring LSU 46-32 in the 2nd half to win comfortably. South Carolina used it's size to own the paint and glass, as they had a 14-9 advantage in offensive rebounding. They also blocked 10 shots on the day.

South Carolina shot 57% from the floor and shared the ball well getting assists on 14 of their 35 made field goals. LSU had assists on just 5 of their 26 makes in the game.

SC had 5 players in double figures, Kamilla Cardoso had team highs in points and rebounds with 18 and 13. Zia Cooke had 17, All-American Aliyah Boston added 14 points and 9 boards. Brea Beal and Raven Johnson chipped in scoring 11 and 10 respectively.

LSU had just two players in double figures, Alexis Morris had a game high 23 and Angel Reese added 16.

South Carolina moves to 25-0 on the season and they extended their winning streak to 31 games dating back to last year's NCAA tournament.
