Will Braves address struggles via trades?

While the Atlanta Braves are still leading the National League East, what was once a 10-game division lead, has now shrunken to a three and a half game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies for the Braves, who once held the best record in baseball and have lost 12 of their last 16 games.

Still, the Braves are 16 games above .500 and remain one of the best teams in baseball, the question becomes, for how long as lack of offensive production in addition to injuries to several key role and multiple starting pitchers being sidelined including Spencer Strider have led to Atlanta’s recent slide. So should the team look to make a trade ahead of the 2026 deadline to help bolster the roster?

“It comes down to timing and fit a lot of times,” Audacy MLB Insider and former MLB player, Tony Gwynn Jr. said as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why there has to be particular factors in place for Braves, President, Baseball Operations and general manager, Alex Anthopoulos to decide on roster moves.

“There are still so many teams that probably feel like they’re in it, so you need the time between now and the deadline to kind of figure out who’s in it, who’s not in it and then you start to develop a market around those guys,” Gwynn Jr. said.
