While Furman Football already had the Southern Conference Title wrapped up, they were upset on the road by Wofford over the weekend and thus gave up some ground in terms of playoff positioning. Rob Jones has the report.

Furman came in ranked in the FCS top five nationally, but fell in Spartanburg Saturday, 19-13. The Paladin offense was held to under 200 total yards and was unable to capitalize on being plus two in turnover margin.

Wofford led 10-6 at the half, they got a fumble return for TD from Max Pulley and then a field goal to close the third with a 19-6 advantage. Furman scored in the 4th on a Carson Jones TD pass to make it 19-13. The Paladin offense was then stopped twice in the final 7:30 of the game.

Furman is 9-2 on the season and won the SoCon Title outright for the 1st time since 1990. However, they fell to the #7 seed nationally in the FCS playoffs with the loss.

Furman will still get a 1st round bye and a 2nd round home game. The Paladins will host the winner of Chattanooga and Austin Peay in Greenville, December 2nd. Catch all the playoff action of Paladin Football on The Fan Upstate.
