It was a solid showing with mixed results for Upstate High School Boys Basketball teams over the weekend in Georgia. The FCA I-85 Showcase in Carnesville featured four Upstate teams taking on opponents from the Peach State.
To open the event, Greenville high downed the host team Franklin County 69-42, after a big 2nd half helped them pull away. In game two, Greer was edged by Habersham Central 59-58. The Yellow Jackets had the go-ahead basket waived off on a charge call with 5 seconds left to play.
In the third contest, Byrnes handled the Lanier Longhorns 78-68. The Rebels led by double digits most of the game, after they hit five three's and scored more than 20 points in the 1st quarter.
In the nightcap, Dorman was dismantled by nationally ranked Grayson 60-25. The Cavs managed just 13 1st half and points and in the second half were outscored 35-12. Purdue Commit Gicari Harris and Georgia Commit Jacob Wilkins both were in double figures for Grayson.
On the day, the Upstate was 2-2. In the 5th game of the event, Norcross downed Keenan of Columbia to give Georgia, a 3-2 advantage over the Palmetto State.
