An Upstate university will be changing its mascot in an effort to tap into its long running history. North Greenville University has announced that the school will be changing its mascot to the Trailblazer, this summer.
The new mascot was unveiled on campus, Monday night. School officials say the change honors the heritage of the school and its mission to create leaders in church and society.
The change means that NGU will drop the Crusaders mascot. The change is set to take effect in Mid-June.
North Greenville is located in the northern Greenville County Community of Tigerville and was founded over a 130 years ago. NGU competes in NCAA Division II.
